Legislation: non-renewal of approval of the active substance iprodione as from 5 March

As from 5 March 2018, plant protection products containing iprodione as an active substance cannot be placed on the market anymore. Any grace period will be as short as possible and will expire by 5 June 2018 at the latest.

Until now, findings of iprodione on crops are checked with COMMISSION REGULATION (EU) 2015/400 (valid from 3 October 2015). In this regulation, starting from page 5, you find the current MRLs for iprodione on different crops. For the moment being, no draft is available with a (possible) update of the current limits. Consequently, the current legislation remains applicable.

About iprodione

Iprodion is used on crops affected by botrytis bunch rot, brown rot, sclerotinia and other fungal diseases in plants. It is currently applied on a variety of crops: fruit, vegetables, ornamental trees and scrubs and lawns. It is a contact fungicide that inhibits the germination of fungal spores and it blocks the growth of the fungal mycelium.
