It started with a crisis
1999 | the dioxin scandal hit the food industry.
The auctions took note. If this could happen, what about plant-based food?
2001 | the LAVA-group, in cooperation with Ghent University, founded Fytolab.
A spin-off from the Phytopharmacie department, under the leadership of professor Willy Dejonckheere.
Born to analyse
Fytolab was built for fast and reliable analysis on plant-based food.
The kind of results you can actually count on.
As a cooperative, we had the freedom to think long-term from day one.

Primoris originals
July, 1st, 2001 | 22 scientists, analysts and problem-solvers walked in on day one.
All of them united by one core activity:
pesticide and contaminant analysis on plant-based food.
That team spirit? Still alive and kicking.

Crossing borders
As our clients expanded across borders, so did we.
France first, then Bulgaria, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador and most recently Ivory Coast.
Every entity built from scratch, with local people, local knowledge and real connections on the ground.
Always our way, ensuring quality and company culture.
A new chapter
In 2015, Fytolab became Primoris. A new name, a deliberate choice.
After joining forces with CKCert and growing internationally, it was time to match our ambition with our identity.
Same people, same values. More expertise, more reach. And ready for what was next.
25 years down. Plenty more to go.
